The Artist

Michael Norman Gute is an award winning artist investigating the liminality between experiences such as growth and decay, reality and illusion, or past and present. The role of the artist is one steeped in intuition, challenged with carrying out the will of the materials. His improvisational approach to making work reveals a growing personal iconography while building an accumulation of memory through painting, drawing, and mark-making.

Gute holds a baccalaureate degree in painting and art history from Kendall College of Art & Design, and two graduate degrees: a master’s in historic preservation & museum administration from Eastern Michigan University, and a Master of Business Administration from Wayne State University. He is a certified fundraising executive who has earned a reputation as a speaker, successful entrepreneur, and advocate.
