Buckham Gallery is pleased to announce our next exhibition, Disrupted Realism, a national juried exhibition. Disrupted Realism, a national juried exhibition established to explore contemporary painting that challenges the traditional concepts of realism. “It is a subjective approach to painting that favors perception over seeing and embraces subjectivity,” John Seed, author of Disrupted Realism: Paintings for a Distracted World.
This incarnation of Disrupted Realism features the work of Chicago artist, Anne Harris and 34 works selected by John Seed for this national juried exhibition. Prize winners will be announced April 9 at 6pm, via social media. Exhibition Catalog will be available mid-April.
"The Buckham Fine Arts Project is committed to facilitating opportunities to engage with challenging contemporary art and to experience new ways of looking and thinking. "Realism" provides an extraordinary gateway as it satisfies the desire to recognize while simultaneously presenting opportunities to experience something completely other than the expected. This contemporary take on realism can be more than the faithful representation of an object in media, it can also refer to a faithful representation of an experience or moment in time," remarks Executive Director Michele Leclaire.
